Clear and Brillant Laser Treatment
Pre-Treatment care
- Avoid the sun for 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- If possible, stop the use of blood thinners, fish oil,
- Omega 3 supplements, and ibuprofen for 7 days prior to the treatment. Tylenol is fine for discomfort.
- This treatment cannot be done if pregnant.
- For a history of cold sores, a RX must be taken at least 24 hours prior to treatment. This can be called in if needed.
- Stop the use of glycolic acids and retinols 1 week prior.
Post Treatment Care
- Cool Compresses can be used for swelling or heat sensation.
- If possible, stop the use of blood thinners, fish oil,
- Omega 3 supplements, and ibuprofen for 7 days after the treatment. Tylenol is fine for discomfort.
- Allow skin to heal, do not rub, scrub, or pick the areas.
- Use gentle cleanser, moisturize, SPF daily.
- Makeup can be applied 24 hours after treatment.
- Your normal skincare regime can continue on day 7.
- Avoid exposure to the sun for 2 weeks after treatment.
- Use sunscreen daily.
Healing Expectation
- Redness/swelling- resolves after 12-24 hours
- Slightly darker skin appearance- 4-7 days
- Dryness/sandpaper feel- 1-4 days.
- Skin Flaking- resolves 4 to 7 days.
Fraxel Laser Treatment
Pre-Care Instructions
- Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment.
- No direct sun exposure for 7 days prior to the appointment. If the skin has experienced sunburn, the treatment will need to be postponed.
- Refrain from self-tanner and tanning beds 1 week before the appointment.
- Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment (waxing, depilatories, etc.)
- An anti-viral prescription will be sent to your pharmacy prior to the treatment date.
- 1 week before your procedure stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E and blood thinners. If you must take pain medication, Tylenol is your best choice.
- Stop using anti-aging products, including Retinoids, Retinols, Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid, Tretinoin, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid 1 week prior to the appointment. You should also avoid using scrubs or anything abrasive on your skin.
- Starting a few days prior, it is recommended to start taking the OTC supplement Arnica which will help reduce bruising and swelling. We also sell Arnica here in our office. Please contact your PCP with any medical questions regarding this product.
- Avoid drinking alcohol the day before your treatment.
Post Care Instructions

- Elevate your head and avoid lying flat or face down for the first 48 hours. Putting your head on a few pillows will help reduce bruising and swelling.
- Refrain from strenuous activities such as running, cycling, and weightlifting for the first 5 days.
- Do not wear makeup on the treated area for 5 days post procedure.
- For 5 days after the procedure, do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E and blood thinners. If you must take pain medication, Tylenol is your best choice.
- Continue taking the OTC supplement Arnica the week following the procedure, which will help reduce bruising and swelling. We also sell Arnica here in our office. Please contact your PCP with any medical questions regarding this product.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Pre Treatment Instructions
- Avoid direct sunlight 2 weeks before your treatment. Sunburned skin cannot be treated. Stop the use of sunless tanning products 1 week prior to the treatment.
- Talk with your provider if you are taking Doxycycline or Minocycline.
- Avoid any irritants to your skin such as Tretinoin, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, Glycolic/Salicylic Acids, and Vitamin C Serums starting 5 days prior to the appointment.
- If you have an active cold sore on the date of the treatment, the procedure must be postponed. You may consider taking an antiviral medication as prescribed.
Post Treatment Instructions
- You may develop sprinkles of increased pigmentation that appear like coffee grounds on the area treated. Allow the skin to naturally flake off. Do not pick or pull, this will cause scabbing.
- You may be blotchy, pink, and puffy for 1 to 4 days following the treatment.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms for 24 hours.
- Apply a cool compress for the first 24 hours if you experience swelling. Do not apply ice directly on your face.
- Avoid any sun exposure for 2 weeks after the treatment.
- Makeup and sunless tanner can be applied 24-48 hours after the treatment.
- For the first 5 days, discontinue all regular skincare products such as Tretinoin, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, Glycolic/Salicylic Acids, and Vitamin C Serums.
- For 5 days, wash with Cetaphil or any gentle acid free cleanser, a gentle moisturizer and a chemical free sunscreen. The provider may suggest the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex for the first 5 days and going forward.
- On post treatment day 5, you may use a once daily gentle exfoliating cleanser plus a topical vitamin c under your sunscreen. We recommend the SkinMedica AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser.
- On post treatment day 7, you may resume your regular skincare regime.
- We recommend that you use the SkinMedica Even and Correct Advanced Brightening System or Premier Illuminating Pads for best results starting on day 7.
- Chemical Peels are to be avoided for one week after treatment.
Laser Hair Removal
- Do not tweeze, wax, color, or use depilatory creams or electrolysis on the area being treated for at least 4 weeks before and throughout the course of the treatment. Shaving is allowed as often as desired.
- You may shave the morning of the appointment.
- Do not shave for 3 days following the treatment.
- For 3 days prior and 3 days after the appointment, avoid bleaching creams, harsh cleansers, scrubs, and retinoids.
- Avoid direct sun exposure 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the treatment.
- Saunas, steam, a hot bath, and shower should be avoided for 72 hours.
- Do not pick or scratch treated areas.
- Refrain from alcohol the day of and the day after the procedure.
- Strenuous exercise should be avoided prior to arrival and 48 hours after the appointment.
- Makeup should not be worn for 24 hours.
Mermaid Facial
Pre Care Instructions
- Do not use topical agents that may increase skin sensitivity: retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may be drying or irritating to the skin 5-7 days prior.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil for 3 days prior to the treatment.
- Avoid laser procedures 1 week prior.
- Direct sun exposure should be avoided starting 1 week prior.
- If possible, avoid fish oils and blood thinning agents for 1 week prior to the treatment.
Post Care Instructions
- Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to the direct sunlight for 1 week.
- After 24 hours, use a full spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 of above. Please wear a hat and sunscreen when needed that first week after the treatment.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, jacuzzi, sauna and steam baths for 24-48 hours after your treatment.
- Do not use topical agents that may increase skin sensitivity: retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may be drying or irritating to the skin for 5 days after this treatment.
Microneedling
Pre- Treatment Instructions
- If you have active acne in the treatment area, please call to reschedule.
- Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, hydroquinone and benzyl peroxide 3 days prior to the treatment.
- Please avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products the week prior to the appointment. This procedure will need to be postponed if a patient has a sunburn.
- 2 weeks prior to the appointment, please avoid chemical peels and waxing.
- On the day of the procedure, do not shave the treatment area.
- 1 week prior to the appointment, it is recommended to stop taking fish oils, Omega 3 supplements and blood thinners. Tylenol is fine to take if needed.
Post- Procedure Information
- We recommend that you stay away from fish oils, Omega 3s and blood thinners for the first 48 hours. Tylenol is fine to take if needed.
- Keep in mind, adding PRP to your treatment will allow you to heal faster.
- Avoid washing your face for 24 hours if you have received PRP during the treatment.
- You may use lukewarm water to rinse your face 8 hours after your appointment if you have not done PRP.
- You may use a gentle cleanser, the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex or SkinMedica Advanced Serum, a gentle moisturizer, and a mineral based sunscreen daily after the first 24 hours.
- You can return to your usual skincare regime on day 7.
- Avoid using cosmetics 24 -48 hours after the procedure.
- Keep out of direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after this procedure.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, Jacuzzi, sauna, and steam baths until the skin irritation has resolved about 3-7 days after the treatment.
- It is recommended to avoid showering for 24 hours after microneedling.
Recovery Expectations
- Immediately after the procedure, your skin will resemble a sunburn. You will be red with potentially some swelling and pinpoint bleeding.
- Over the following 24 hours, the skin may feel tight, but the redness and swelling will reduce.
- You may experience mild peeling and sensitivity to touch as well as some potential bruising.
- Avoid picking any skin that is flaking, as it may cause scabbing.
Morpheus8 Face and Neck Post Care Instructions
Day of Procedure
- Use cool compresses as needed.
- Do not use any sunscreen.
- In the evening, wash with a gentle cleanser then apply
- use the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex.
Day 1 after the procedure
- Twice today use a gentle cleanser.
- After cleansing, use the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex.
- Do not use any sunscreen.
Day 2 after the procedure through Day 6
- Use a gentle cleanser twice daily.
- Continue to use the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex twice a day, followed by a moisturizer if needed.
- Use sunscreen daily, reapplying throughout the day.

- If you are scheduled for dermal filler on the lower part of the face, dental appointments should be scheduled 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after this treatment.
- Start the OTC supplement Arnica, a few days before and into the week after your appointment, to help advance healing and reduce swelling. We do sell Arnica in our office as well. Please consult your PCP for any medical questions regarding this product.

- Drink 8oz-16oz of water before coming into the appointment.
- After 24 hours, you may wash your hair.
- It is best to wait 48 hours after the treatment for a haircut, and 2 weeks after for hair coloring.
Sclerotherapy
- Please purchase compression stockings with the thickness 20-30mmhg. You will need to bring the compression stockings to the appointment. You may order online or at a medical supply store.
- Compression stockings will need to be worn for 1 to 2 weeks after the appointment including bedtime.
- Avoid alcohol for 2 days before and 2 days after the treatment.
- If possible, avoid fish oil, Omega 3 supplements, blood thinners, and ibuprofen for 7 days prior to the procedure, specifically ibuprofen for 48 hours. Tylenol is fine if needed.
- Refrain from exercise, which will increase blood flow to your legs, for 1 week after the procedure.
- Please avoid hot tubs and hot baths for 48 hours after the procedure.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the procedure.
- It is recommended to postpone this treatment if you are traveling on a long flight over the next few weeks due to the danger of blood clots.
SKINVIVE
- Avoid alcohol the day before and the day after the treatment.
