Excessive sugar and skin are equivalent to oil and water, they’ll never mix. For beautiful skin, throw out the excess sugar!
Consuming high amounts of sugar can be detrimental to our largest organ by:
+increasing insulin levels leading to skin tags and acne
+encourages loss of elasticity
+accelerates premature aging
+induces psoriasis and eczema flare ups
+increases inflammation/puffiness
+causes hyperpigmentation
+causes dehydration leading to dry, dull skin
Our body speaks to us utilizing a body-brain connection, the skin is no different. Are you dealing with any of the conditions above? The answer may be as simple as adjusting your diet.
Below you will find alternatives to some of your household favorites. For beautiful skin, it is always best to work from the inside out. Alternatives will be on the right. In addition to being a cleaner option with a significant amount of decreased sugar, all alternatives mentioned below have antibacterial/anti-inflammatory properties as well!
Aunt jemima syrup – Grade a maple syrup, raw honey, or date syrup
White sugar – Coconut sugar or date sugar
Milk chocolate- Dark chocolate or dates
White bread – Sourdough bread
White rice – Quinoa
Sugary oatmeal – overnight oats w. fresh fruit and an alternative sweetener from above
I also suggest beginning each day with a gut health enforcer for optimal skin health.
This can be:
+2-3 dates on an empty stomach
+Fresh tropical or citrus fruit on an empty stomach
+At least 16oz room temp water with lime
