The gut is the home for many mental-emotional, as well as physical bodily functions with the gut and skin barrier sharing many of these functions. An unhealthy balance within the gut can trigger skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, vitiligo, and alopecia.

These skin conditions become triggered as a result of imbalances in the gut microbiome which promotes a decline in nutrient absorption influencing a decline in the immune system. This then exacerbates the conditions mentioned above.

Nurturing your gut to maintain a healthy gut microbiome is a promising way to improve the health of your largest organ.

A few years back I owned a health and wellness business with a true focus on overall health. One of the biggest takeaways from this experience is consistency breeds results. If you’re not satisfied with the results, take a look into the areas you may be the most consistent in. Redirection is always an option. Here are a few simple ways to nurture your gut on a daily basis:

  • Maintain a balanced diet filled with fiber, lean proteins, and whole grains
  • Introduce pre/probiotics to your regimen with foods like yogurt, oatmeal, and berries
  • Stay hydrated!
  • Stress management. Did you know your gut was the home for your emotional health, manage stress for better skin!
